“La Rosa de l’avi” is the design that has been with the Marti family since 1913. This piece is a celebration of that journey.

 opened his small cement tiles studio in Manresa, after a few years of working directly with various builders and producing the tiles in the same works.

Bernat Martí, born in Oliva, in the Valencian Country, arrived at the Barcelona pre-Expo Universal in 1888, and went to work at the prestigious Escofet house, where he learned the trade of Mosaista.

We are at the time of the maximum splendor of modernism and the cement tiles are one of the protagonists in the great buildings designed by the prestigious architects of the time, such as Domènech i Montaner, Puig i Cada-Falch or Gaudí.

In Manresa at the beginning of the 20th century, there were seven cement tiles studio, with Mosaics Marti being the only one that has continued over the years.

In 1931, when Bernat Martí died, his sons, Bernat, Ricard and Pere, followed in their father's footsteps and continued the activity of Mosaics Marti, but the cement tile is beginning to lose the battle against other more industrial products, terrazzo, ceramics, stoneware ... and yet the Marti family continues in the activity of building materials, without renouncing its origins.

And it was in the 80’s, when the third generation, with Albert and Pere, revitalized production of cement tiles, again.

Mosaics Marti is a small company rooted in its territory and its reality. It’s been 110 years since we opened the door every day, in the city of Manresa. We have always been very proud to produce cement tiles and show their possibilities.

Mosaics Marti has been and is a Studio open to new initiatives, convinced that with the synergy with others, is when the best projects come out and it is in this framework that the close collaboration with the architect Gal Hart has allowed, after several years of work, offer today a great innovation with the new product Liberty, the roots of modernism expressed with cement tiles and trencadís, give way tiles that implement forms of trencadís, creating the metamorphosis of the traditional cement tiles to the new trencadís tile.

We make a contemporary aesthetics with a 19th century technique.

Me gusta el dinamismo cultural, humano y profesional que tiene y a la vez la posibilidad de escoger entornos muy diferentes para poder vivir. Me gusta poder ir a pasear al campo, recorrer fácilmente un rio natural y ver pájaros, tortugas, animalitos. Poder irme a la montaña y conectar con lo que va mas allá de mi. Poder meter mi cuerpo en el oceáno.

Me gusta la gente y como hace suyo el espacio publico, la ciudad. Comidas populares, fiestas, etc.. llenan la ciudad de vida. Barcelona es una ciudad amable para las familias, para estar con los niños. Barrios que son pueblos, plazas donde incluso ponen juegos a disposición de las familias. Barcelona vive. De mil colores, mil sabores, mil culturas. Barcelona es muy diversa, de hecho hay muchas barcelonas. Entornos sociales muy diferentes. Humildes o lujosos, aportando miradas y sabidurías muy diferentes. Entornos que explorar y vivir. Naturaleza, humanidad, vida, negocios, cultura, lujo incluso. Muchas vidas. Mucha vida.

🎨 About the artist:
Delphine is multipotentialite. She is, among others, artist, socio-anthropologist and facilitator of change processes. Her arborescence thinking and her high sensitivity allow her to see the connections between ideas, perceptions, sensitivities, visions that may seem to be separated to others. She sees them and she makes them tangible and concrete: through drawing, art and through the creation of experiences of collaboration, communication and/or learning, able to re-unite different singularities in a safe and diverse space.
Born in Le Blanc-Mesnil, France and happily living in Barcelona, Catalunya.
