The work I developed is a project involving the retrieval of media images and archives, followed by transforming them into transfer prints on metal. It began with the 'For you' project, in which I aimed to recreate a kind of archive library of Messenger images, GIFs, and various photos exchanged with my grandmother. The Graphic Interchange Format (GIF) is a basic resolution digital image format used on the internet.
In this work, I am interested in the proliferation of these images and the direct impact they have on our level of inter-connectivity. I try to understand, through these digital exchanges, the means of intergenerational communication. The GIF is for me an archaeological ruin of the internet that I seek to exploit with this project.
I love the notion of transfer and what it evokes. Both in its technicality and its concept. When there is a transfer, there is loss.
